Notary, Translation & Legalization for United Kingdom (from Prachuap Khiri Khan, Thailand)

Notary, certified English translation and dual-track legalization (FCDO Apostille or UK Embassy Bangkok) for UK visas, settlement and business filings.

Hague Apostille ✓Embassy: BangkokTranslation: English

Quick answer

UK accepts Apostille via the Hague Convention. From Thailand: notarize at NSA, MFA-legalize, then either ship to FCDO London for Apostille, or use the UK Embassy in Bangkok for Embassy legalization (faster but country-specific).

Legalization chain — Thailand → United Kingdom

  1. 1

    Notarization by Thai NSA

  2. 2

    MFA legalization (Chaengwattana)

  3. 3

UK FCDO Apostille (in London) OR UK Embassy Bangkok legalization

Common use cases

  • UK Spouse / Fiancé visa (Appendix FM)
  • UK Skilled Worker visa supporting documents
  • UK university transcript verification
  • UK Companies House filings from Thailand
  • UK marriage / civil partnership recognition

Country-specific notes

  • UK is a Hague Apostille member — but documents originating in Thailand still need MFA legalization first because Thailand only recently joined Apostille (Dec 2024).
  • UK Embassy Bangkok provides 'legalization for use in the UK' as an alternative to FCDO Apostille.
  • Spouse visa applicants — provide Thai household registration (Tabien Baan) translated and legalized.

FAQ — United Kingdom corridor

Should I use FCDO Apostille or UK Embassy legalization?
If you are already in the UK, FCDO Apostille (£30, 2 days) is cheaper. If you are in Thailand, UK Embassy Bangkok legalization is faster — no shipping needed.
Does Thailand's Apostille (since Dec 2024) replace MFA legalization?
Yes — for Hague-member receiving countries like the UK, a Thai-issued Apostille is now accepted directly. MFA legalization is the legacy path; Apostille is the new single-step.
Do UK Spouse visa documents need to be translated?
Yes. UKVI requires certified English translations of all non-English documents, including the translator's statement of competency, name, signature and date.
Can you handle the FCDO Apostille on my behalf in London?
We partner with a UK courier-agent to submit to FCDO Milton Keynes. Turnaround 5-8 working days from Thailand including transit.

Corridor playbook

From intake to delivery — how the United Kingdom corridor runs from Prachuap Khiri Khan

Realistic timeline

For a standard packet (passport scan, supporting documents, translation, MFA/Apostille and — if required — embassy authentication for United Kingdom), plan around 5–10 working days from when we receive the originals at our Prachuap Khiri Khan office. Express runs to MFA Chaengwattana take 1 day instead of 3, available on request. Embassy queues are the only step we cannot accelerate; we publish current lead times on each corridor page above.

Working remotely

If you are already abroad, you do not need to return to Thailand for most files. We accept high-resolution scans by email or secure upload, prepare the English draft, and ship the completed originals by DHL Express or EMS to any address worldwide. Power of attorney, declaration, single-status and affidavit work for United Kingdom is regularly handled without you being physically present in Prachuap Khiri Khan.

Payments & receipts

All quotes are issued in Thai Baht with a USD reference rate for budgeting. We accept Thai bank transfer, international wire (SWIFT), Wise (preferred for low fees), PayPal and Visa/Mastercard. A registered tax invoice is provided on every engagement — useful when the document expense is reimbursable by your employer, university or insurer.

If your file is refused

On the rare occasion a destination authority — United Kingdom consulate, USCIS, UKVI, Standesamt, university registrar — asks for a correction, we re-issue the affected certification at no additional notarial fee. Government legalization fees (MFA, Apostille, embassy) are non-refundable and pass through at cost. We keep a digital file of every notarised packet for 5 years so re-issuance is straightforward.

Every step above is performed in-house by Notarial Services Attorneys (NSA) licensed by the Lawyers Council of Thailand under the Notarial Services Attorney Regulations B.E. 2546 (2003). We do not outsource the notarial act, the MFA submission or the embassy submission — the same case officer in Prachuap Khiri Khan is accountable from intake to delivery, which is how we keep the United Kingdom corridor moving on schedule for international clients.

Why foreigners choose us in Prachuap Khiri Khan

A licensed Thai Notarial Services Attorney — explained for international clients

Thailand does not have the same Notary Public office that the United States, United Kingdom or Australia uses. Instead, the Lawyers Council of Thailand licenses senior attorneys as Notarial Services Attorneys (NSA). An NSA can certify signatures, true copies, affidavits, sworn statements and translations — and the certification is recognised by foreign embassies, universities, courts and immigration authorities once the document is legalised by the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA, Chaengwattana). Our team in Prachuap Khiri Khan holds six NSA licences and works in English with embassies and clients in more than 60 countries.

Authority & statutory basis

We work under the Notarial Services Attorney Regulations B.E. 2546 (2003) issued by the Lawyers Council of Thailand under the Lawyers Act B.E. 2528 (1985). Every certificate carries the attorney’s registered seal, signature and licence number — verifiable directly with the Council.

MFA & embassy network

We handle the full chain at the Department of Consular Affairs at MFA Chaengwattana, plus authentication at more than 80 embassies and consulates in Bangkok. Common destinations include the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, Japan, Canada, France, the Netherlands, China and India.

Translation accepted by USCIS, UKVI, NAATI

Certified Thai ↔ English translation prepared by NAATI-recognised translators and notarised on the same file. The same packet is accepted by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, UK Visas and Immigration, Australian DHA, German Standesamt and the Embassy of Japan.

Apostille & the Hague Convention

Thailand acceded to the Hague Apostille Convention in 2024. For documents destined for Apostille-member states, MFA Chaengwattana now issues an Apostille certificate in addition to the legacy legalisation stamp. We advise on which route the receiving country prefers in 2026.

Privacy & data protection

All client files are stored under the Personal Data Protection Act B.E. 2562 (2019). Passport scans, marriage certificates, financial affidavits and corporate records are retained only as required by attorney record-keeping rules and destroyed thereafter.

How the process works in plain English

  1. 1. Send your documents — passport scan, supporting paperwork and the receiving country. We reply in English with a written quote within one business hour during Thai office time (Mon-Sat 09:00-18:00 ICT, UTC+7).
  2. 2. Translation & review — if Thai ↔ English translation is needed, our translator prepares the certified version and pairs it with the original. You receive a PDF proof to approve before notarisation.
  3. 3. Notarial Services Attorney certification — an NSA signs and seals the signature, true copy or affidavit at our office in Prachuap Khiri Khan. Most files are signed the same day they arrive.
  4. 4. MFA legalisation in Bangkok — we courier the file to the Department of Consular Affairs at Chaengwattana for the consular stamp or Apostille certificate. Standard turnaround is three working days; same-day express is available.
  5. 5. Embassy authentication (if required) — for non-Apostille destinations such as the United States, we submit to the destination embassy or consulate in Bangkok. Lead time depends on the embassy queue, typically five to ten working days.
  6. 6. Delivery worldwide — pickup at our office, in-country EMS, or DHL Express to any address. Tracking number provided.

Frequently asked questions from foreigners

Is a Thai Notarial Services Attorney the same as a US Notary Public?
Functionally yes — the NSA performs the same civil-law notarial acts (witnessing signatures, certifying true copies, administering oaths and notarising translations). The legal basis is different: the NSA is a licensed attorney regulated by the Lawyers Council of Thailand, whereas a US Notary is a state- appointed officer. For cross-border use both routes go through MFA / embassy legalisation.
Can you handle documents while I am still overseas?
Yes. We accept scans by email or secure upload, prepare drafts in English, take payment by international bank transfer, Wise, PayPal or credit card, and ship originals back via DHL to any country. Power of attorney work is the most common remote engagement.
Do I need to come to Prachuap Khiri Khan in person?
Only when a wet signature or witnessed identity is required by the destination country (for example a US I-864 affidavit or a UK statutory declaration). For copy certifications, MFA legalisation and most translations we work entirely remotely.
Does Thailand issue Apostilles?
Yes. Thailand acceded to the Hague Apostille Convention in 2024, and MFA Chaengwattana issues Apostilles for documents bound for member states such as the UK, Australia, Germany, Japan and the Netherlands. Non-member states such as the United States still require the traditional MFA + embassy chain.
What payment methods do you accept from outside Thailand?
Domestic Thai bank transfer, international wire (SWIFT), Wise (preferred for low fees), PayPal and Visa / Mastercard credit cards. Quotes are issued in Thai Baht; we provide a USD reference rate for budgeting.
Will the notarisation be accepted by my home country?
Yes, once it passes the legalisation chain required by the receiving country. Each country page on this site lists the exact chain — Apostille only, MFA only, or MFA followed by embassy authentication.
