Why foreigners choose us in Prachuap Khiri Khan

A licensed Thai Notarial Services Attorney — explained for international clients

Thailand does not have the same Notary Public office that the United States, United Kingdom or Australia uses. Instead, the Lawyers Council of Thailand licenses senior attorneys as Notarial Services Attorneys (NSA). An NSA can certify signatures, true copies, affidavits, sworn statements and translations — and the certification is recognised by foreign embassies, universities, courts and immigration authorities once the document is legalised by the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA, Chaengwattana). Our team in Prachuap Khiri Khan holds six NSA licences and works in English with embassies and clients in more than 60 countries.

Authority & statutory basis

We work under the Notarial Services Attorney Regulations B.E. 2546 (2003) issued by the Lawyers Council of Thailand under the Lawyers Act B.E. 2528 (1985). Every certificate carries the attorney’s registered seal, signature and licence number — verifiable directly with the Council.

MFA & embassy network

We handle the full chain at the Department of Consular Affairs at MFA Chaengwattana, plus authentication at more than 80 embassies and consulates in Bangkok. Common destinations include the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, Japan, Canada, France, the Netherlands, China and India.

Translation accepted by USCIS, UKVI, NAATI

Certified Thai ↔ English translation prepared by NAATI-recognised translators and notarised on the same file. The same packet is accepted by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, UK Visas and Immigration, Australian DHA, German Standesamt and the Embassy of Japan.

Apostille & the Hague Convention

Thailand acceded to the Hague Apostille Convention in 2024. For documents destined for Apostille-member states, MFA Chaengwattana now issues an Apostille certificate in addition to the legacy legalisation stamp. We advise on which route the receiving country prefers in 2026.

Privacy & data protection

All client files are stored under the Personal Data Protection Act B.E. 2562 (2019). Passport scans, marriage certificates, financial affidavits and corporate records are retained only as required by attorney record-keeping rules and destroyed thereafter.

How the process works in plain English

  1. 1. Send your documents — passport scan, supporting paperwork and the receiving country. We reply in English with a written quote within one business hour during Thai office time (Mon-Sat 09:00-18:00 ICT, UTC+7).
  2. 2. Translation & review — if Thai ↔ English translation is needed, our translator prepares the certified version and pairs it with the original. You receive a PDF proof to approve before notarisation.
  3. 3. Notarial Services Attorney certification — an NSA signs and seals the signature, true copy or affidavit at our office in Prachuap Khiri Khan. Most files are signed the same day they arrive.
  4. 4. MFA legalisation in Bangkok — we courier the file to the Department of Consular Affairs at Chaengwattana for the consular stamp or Apostille certificate. Standard turnaround is three working days; same-day express is available.
  5. 5. Embassy authentication (if required) — for non-Apostille destinations such as the United States, we submit to the destination embassy or consulate in Bangkok. Lead time depends on the embassy queue, typically five to ten working days.
  6. 6. Delivery worldwide — pickup at our office, in-country EMS, or DHL Express to any address. Tracking number provided.

Frequently asked questions from foreigners

Is a Thai Notarial Services Attorney the same as a US Notary Public?
Functionally yes — the NSA performs the same civil-law notarial acts (witnessing signatures, certifying true copies, administering oaths and notarising translations). The legal basis is different: the NSA is a licensed attorney regulated by the Lawyers Council of Thailand, whereas a US Notary is a state- appointed officer. For cross-border use both routes go through MFA / embassy legalisation.
Can you handle documents while I am still overseas?
Yes. We accept scans by email or secure upload, prepare drafts in English, take payment by international bank transfer, Wise, PayPal or credit card, and ship originals back via DHL to any country. Power of attorney work is the most common remote engagement.
Do I need to come to Prachuap Khiri Khan in person?
Only when a wet signature or witnessed identity is required by the destination country (for example a US I-864 affidavit or a UK statutory declaration). For copy certifications, MFA legalisation and most translations we work entirely remotely.
Does Thailand issue Apostilles?
Yes. Thailand acceded to the Hague Apostille Convention in 2024, and MFA Chaengwattana issues Apostilles for documents bound for member states such as the UK, Australia, Germany, Japan and the Netherlands. Non-member states such as the United States still require the traditional MFA + embassy chain.
What payment methods do you accept from outside Thailand?
Domestic Thai bank transfer, international wire (SWIFT), Wise (preferred for low fees), PayPal and Visa / Mastercard credit cards. Quotes are issued in Thai Baht; we provide a USD reference rate for budgeting.
Will the notarisation be accepted by my home country?
Yes, once it passes the legalisation chain required by the receiving country. Each country page on this site lists the exact chain — Apostille only, MFA only, or MFA followed by embassy authentication.
